Robotic Assembly and Contact Force Control
Modern industrial robots are traditionally programmed to follow desired trajectories, with the only feedback coming from the internal position/angle sensors in the joints. The robots are in general very accurate in tracking the desired motion, and they have become indispensable in many applications, such as spot welding and painting in the automotive industry. In more complex tasks, such as phy...
متن کاملAdaptive interaction robot control with estimation of contact force
This paper deals with a new adaptive force-position control of a robotic manipulator based on force estimation. First, an adaptive position controller is derived with contact force component as estimated parameters. Second, a supervisory external loop is added in order to regulate the contact force to the desired value. Extensive simulations with 2-DOF manipulator illustrate the followed approach.
متن کاملDynamic Control of Internal Force for Visco-Elastic Contact Grasps
This paper deals with robotic grasps exhibiting viscoelastic contact interactions with the manipulated object. Such interactions are frequent in advanced robotic applications since in many cases, i.e. when a great precision is needed, elasticity cannot be neglected. This is particularly true in medical applications, as in tele-surgery or in laparoscopy, where precision is obviously basic. The c...
متن کاملImproved Control Strategies for Intermittent Contact Mode Atomic Force Microscopes
Atomic force microscopes have proved to be fundamental research tools in many situations where a gentle imaging process is required, and in a variety of environmental conditions, such as the study of biological samples. Among the possible modes of operation, intermittent contact mode is one that causes less wear to both the sample and the instrument; therefore, it is ideal when imaging soft sam...
متن کاملOptimization-Based Virtual Surface Contact Manipulation at Force Control Rates
Previous interactive works have used springs, heuristics, and dynamics for surface placement applications. We present an analytical technique for kilohertz rate manipulation of CAD models with virtual surface and trimming constraints. The optimization approach allows best placement and sensitivity analysis for mechanical design objectives and parametric domain objectives. Such objectives are no...
